Government Grants are funds which are disbursed by one party which in this case is a Government Department, or a Corporation, Foundation or Trust, related to the Government in some manner, to a recipient, which may be a nonprofit entity, educational institution, business or any individual in a need for the grant. The Canadian Government offers a variety of grants for various purposes. The grants may range from a few thousand dollars to millions of dollars.
The Canadian government doles out huge grants every year, running into millions. This is given to start new businesses or give a push to the already existing ones. The large amount of money involved promotes a sense of healthy competition among the various enterprises. As a result the grants play a very important role in the development and progress of the national economy. It also helps in creating employment which pushes up the per capita income of the country.
