Dental Grants
-
There are several forms of Dental Grants that may be applied for, however, as in any Grant writing, you must first have an understanding of the basics. You must first have a complete plan to show the Granter the who what when and how, to make your cause worthy of their grant.
An in depth plan should contain Program Objectives of the Dental need, be it training, education, further education, public health or even a specific specialty within the field. Your objectives should show who may benefit from your program and the levels in which they would benefit. For example, your program would provided educational training, research and the like.
Be aware that there are many different types of Dental Grants available so be sure you know your target area to help narrow the searches of where to apply. A great place to begin, would be through the American Dental Association. They not only have available to you Grants, but Fellowships, Scholarships and more.
Always remember that a Grant is a request, it is a request for money that need never be repaid. As you are sure to be amongst the tens of thousands of people applying for a grant, really think it out. This is strictly about selling yourself to the Granter, letting them know why you, and only you, deserve the grant they are willing to give. If you are an established dental professional looking to provide a special service in your area, targeting a specific procedure, again, the ADA is the place to begin.
As in all grants, remember wherever you apply, carefully investigate all the rules, all the deadlines, forms and materials requested. You should also inquire about how many grants are available from any one place, and their maximum monetary amount. Using your best judgment is the glass half full or half empty may provide you with another way to weed out the many avenues available. As an example of that statement. If one Granter is offering 200 grants at a maximum of $1000 and another Granter is offering only 10 grants at a maximum of $5000, this is where your best judgment, your need for the grant and your creative writing ability as well as undeniable facts will bring you the most benefit in determining whether to file for one, for some, for all !
