Government grant money
-
My name is Charles, and I personally have received a government grant money. Now, there are plenty of arguments people use to down the idea of government funded grants, that they’re not necessary, that they are only a drain on taxpayer dollars, etc. But if it were not for a government grant money, I would have never gotten out of the mess i was in during my teenage years.
I wasn’t particularly poor, nor was I suffering from some sort of horrid, catatonic nightmare of a living condition, but the need was still urgent. I had little to no money of my own, my minimum wage job wasn’t enough to pay for the basest of living conditions, and I had college to pay for.
I was praised as a good student and “smart” and the like, I had even succeeded in graduating a year early, but because of a lack of scholarships for people who weren’t interested in sports, I was up a crick when it came to financing a college education. If it weren’t for a government grant and loan, I wouldn’t have been able to pay off my debts, and would still be under them today by way of compound interest.
And this is only the story of a person who was fairly well off in his early years, Imagine someone who has nothing! It boggles the mind how some can argue to eliminate the federal grants, when so many need them in order to be able to survive in this world now dominated by college education.
Everyone can receive government grant money!

Furthering your education is a rewarding endeavor, both financially and spiritually. Unfortunately, there is financial help for many college costs such as tuition and living quarters but no help for College Textbooks.
I have resorted to buying older edition cheap textbooks when available and also have been purchasing International Edition textbooks that are much cheaper on sites such as http://www.WholesaleCollegeTextbooks.com. International textbooks are legal in the US but the professors frown on them. I wish the government would regulate the prices and profit on textbooks and make them more accessible to students.
