Article is describing grants for pregnant women procedure in Lithuania based on legal requirements.
Maternity (paternity) benefit is one of the parents (adoptive parents) who are covered by sickness and maternity social insurance as well as: – has sickness and maternity social insurance; – has child-care leave in accordance with the law requirements; – has valid sickness and maternity social insurance record at least for 12 month period for last year till the first day of parental leave.
Sickness and maternity social insurance record should include: periods during which they had been paid or had to be made compulsory state social insurance contributions for sickness and maternity insurance, sickness type (name), timing of parental benefits, sickness benefits for accidents at work or occupational diseases receiving timing.
Insured person is not required to sickness and maternity social insurance record when he was already released for a childcare leave for child between 1 and 3 years old age, sickness and maternity social insurance for him run from the 12-month period prior to the last holiday.
In cases where less than 26 years of insured persons have not acquired the required sickness and maternity social insurance record because of higher learning, general education school full-time and break from the science end (the completion of scientific evidence) before they become insured does not exceed 3 months, maternity (paternity) benefit is paid regardless of their prior experience. The same right may be exercised and the statutory public servants, if by the beginning of this disease have not acquired seniority because the periods indicated, as officials were prohibited, and a break from the status change does not exceed 3 months.
If during maternity leave period mother of the child is died, maternity allowance is granted to the other persons and calculated from the date of mother’s death.
Maternity (paternity) benefit payment period lasts till child is up to two years old. Maternity (paternity) monthly allowance for up to two years old child care leave period is calculated based on work days per year average per month, considering five days working days per week schedule. Not a whole month allowance is calculated according to calendar days of the month. Maternity (paternity) allowance is paid for the previous month.
Maternity (paternity) allowance is fixed to 100% recipient’s earnings size for maternity leave start till the child reaches one year age and 85% till child reaches two years old age. Benefits are doubled or tripled in case of two or more children childcare leave.
