In twenty first century the whole world is in transitional phase for growth and development in every field. India being a developing nation is making a different to every sector. Actually in past one decade India progressed a lot and heading towards a developed nation. So is the education system. The central government passed a legislation few years back that made the ‘Primary education’ a fundamental right of every citizen of India. Every children below 14 years of age has the right to pursue free elementary education. Keeping this in mind the governments (both central and state government) have initiated significant steps to make the entire primary education system a common and easy platform for education for all.

For this the central government has launched a program called ‘Sarbha Siksha Aviyan’-or Mission of Education for all’. In this mission a detail program of curriculum is streamlined in state level. Various syllabi of courses and time table with strict adherence to the teaching guidelines are the main highlights of this education mission. To attract more students and make the school a learning home many government grants are provided to each school.

With the motto ‘every school will be beautiful, every child will go to school’ the state government of Assam has granted a finance of around 4 lakhs rupees to build a concrete building. The amount is not fixed for every school. It depends on the numbers of students and area it covers. To avoid corruption the District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) is personally monitoring the construction procedure. There are cases that few teachers have been suspended for misuse of this grant.

Another grant in education field is ‘mid day meal scheme’. It is a free launch scheme to the students up to standard VIII. For this meal, one or two cocks are also working for at least 3-4 hours a day. It is notable that it benefits the school in many ways namely it attracts little kids to make a habit to the school. For poor families it helps them a lot.

There are many other grants available from government departments. The make the education more enjoyable many teaching equipements like card board, radio, calendars are provided to the school. The Head master of a school has to forward the list of the girl students for whom the school gets grants. The grants are of course disbursed to the girl students but the school in turn gets more other financial grants such as girls’ common room, girls clothing for uniform etc.

Now a days under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme’ every primary school is going to get computer laboratory grants with computer instructor. There will be a LAN system to of this computer laboratory.
